These bicycle chain and sprocket trees have been some of my most popular works of metal art. Each tree is unique and one of a kind. These trees represent a combination my love for cycling, sustainability, and nature.
Below are the options and explanations of the various finishes for the bicycle chain tree's foliage
The natural foliage finish features a mixture of shiny chrome, rustic, blackened, and brass plated sprockets to give the tree a lively varied look
The two-tone foliage finish lends depth to the artwork with shiny chrome sprockets in the foreground and darker tones in the background
The heat patina finish is achieved by sanding the outer coating off of each sprocket down to bare steel. the sprockets are then heated with a torch to reveal the beautiful blue, red, and gold oxides.
The golden patina is similar to the heat patina though it requires a skilled hand and careful heating to slowly bring out just the golden colors for a beautiful high contrast result.
